Welcome to Riverside South, a family-oriented suburb of Ottawa near the airport.

Riverside South was a fairly small suburb until the early 2000s when it exploded, moving at a similar pace to Kanata or Barrhaven.

  • Riverside South was a small, fairly vacant area with mostly farms until the 1990s. As it continues to grow, the community association now predicts a population of 24,000 people by 2034.

    Within this community is the older community named Honey Gables. This small area has been around since 1950.

  • Riverside South has a population of around 20,000 people.

  • There are four schools in Riverside South:

    • St. Jerome Catholic School

    • Steve MacLean Public School

    • École élémentaire catholique Bernard-Grandmaître

      • This is the only school in Ottawa which offers a ‘balanced’ calendar - a shorter summer, with more time off during Thanksgiving, Victoria Day, and March Break.

    • École élémentaire publique Michel-Dupuis

    High school students in the area are served by

    • Merivale High School, Nepean

    • South Carleton High School, Richmond

    • St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School

  • Riverside South has a great community structure. The area is overlooked by the Riverside South Community Association, and community members can spend time at the Rideauview Community Centre or Riverside South Community Centre.

  • Riverside South has a pet shop at 3771 Spratt Rd and the Riverside South Animal Hospital is located at 4184 Spratt Road.

    There is also a dog park located at 910 Earl Armstrong Rd!

  • Riverside South has a lot of great options for children including music studios, day cares, a kid’s salon, martial arts, Kumon, and a preschool, as well as tons of outdoor space, parks, and more.

  • Urbandale Plaza is the main shopping centre in Riverside South.

  • The entrance to Riverside South is the Vimy Memorial Bridge.

  • You can do your groceries in Riverside South at an Independent, Loblaws, or FreshCo.

  • Riverside South has the Broadway Bar and Grill to go out in the evenings with friends, but for a real night-out experience, you will have to travel farther into the city.
