Welcome to Kanata, an Ottawa suburb with all the personality of its own small city.

Kanata is a suburb of Ottawa, around 22km from the downtown area. Kanata used to be its own city until it merged with Ottawa in 2001. Before then, it was named one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, and has continued to grow since then as a part of Ottawa!

  • Kanata was originally a part of the Township of March in the early 19th century.

Kanata was then opened to be a tech-city, when an urban developer essentially gave away land for free to tech companies. This brought in a huge influx of workers who populated the area and contributed to its massive growth.
