Welcome to Alta Vista, a residential neighbourhood in Ottawa filled with green space and community spirit.

Alta Vista is known by its main road, also named Alta Vista, as well as plenty of community centres, parks, schools, churches, and a strong community. It is broken up into smaller neighbourhoods named Applewood Acres, Billings, Canterbury, Faircrest, Guildwood Estates, Heron Gate, Playfair Park, Rideau Park, Ridgemont, and Urbandale Acres.

  • Alta Vista is a family-friendly neighbourhood with plenty to do for the whole family. From outdoor spaces to community centres, Alta Vista offers outdoor and indoor activities year-round. It is close to downtown while being in its own separate, more residential area.

  • Alta Vista is a relatively small neighbourhood, but benefits from The Glebe and Centretown’s pet services. In Alta Vista, there is a Pet Valu at 2641 Alta Vista Dr and an animal hospital at 2679 Alta Vista.

  • Alta Vista has a few shopping centres, as well as stores on the main roads. For more shopping, you can head down to the Rideau Centre in Byward Market or up to Bayshore Shopping Centre.

  • The main landmark in Alta Vista is the Billings Estate National Historic Site on 2100 Cabot Rd.

  • Alta Vista is packed with grocery stores of all types. There are main chain stores like Independent, Farm Boy, and Shoppers, and local grocery stores as well.

  • Most Alta Vista residents will head to downtown to Byward Market or head to Centretown for a night out, but there are plenty of sports bars and pubs in the area for a more casual evening.

  • There are plenty of restaurants in Alta Vista, especially along Bank Street. You can also head into Centretown or down to Byward Market for even more dining options.

  • Alta Vista has a great selection of single family and semi-detached homes as well as townhomes. There are not many condo buildings in the area. The few that are there are called:
