In the 1800s, Westboro was actually a rural community filled with farms, sawmills, and more. Slowly, it developed a larger presence once it got an electric trolly running into downtown. As time went on, more and more large name stores and amenities came to the area, and now Westboro is one of the trendier areas in Ottawa!
Check out the Maplelawn estate, a National Historic Site from 1831! The Maplelawn Garden has the second oldest building in Ottawa!
The Westboro War Memorial was unveiled in 1985 and is dedicated to the memory of the fallen Westboro residents from the Great War, Second World War, and the Korea War.
