Bayshore

Welcome to Bayshore, a small neighbourhood in the west of Ottawa.

A neighbourhood centred around the Bayshore Shopping Centre, filled with diversity and community spirit.

  • Bayshore was first built in the mid 60s. Minto Group was the developer. As time went on, more townhouses and high rises were built.

    Bayshore Shopping Centre was built in 1973, and was further extended in 1987.

  • Bayshore is a highly diverse place, with a large part of the population from the Philippines, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The area also has a large Muslim population, with the 2011 census reporting 34% of the population as Muslim.

  • Bayshore area has lots of great options for children’s shopping at the mall, and the amazing Andrew Haydon Park right on the Ottawa River. There are also plenty of schools in the surrounding area.

  • You can do plenty of shopping in Bayshore, at the Bayshore Shopping Centre! This is the largest mall in Ottawa, with 3 floors and plenty of options for whatever your interests are.

  • If you live in Bayshore, you’ll most likely want to head into Kanata or downtown Ottawa for night life. If you’re looking for a more relaxed vibe, you can visit the Cineplex Cinemas in the evening!

  • The best takeout on offer in the area will be from the Bayshore dining hall, which has amazing options like shawarma, health foods, fries and poutines, noodles, burgers, and more.

  • This neighbourhood is primarily understood as being mainly rental homes. There are plenty of row townhouses, garden homes, and high-rise apartment buildings in the area.

  • Bayshore is a fairly small neighbourhood, but residents can enjoy the Bayshore Community Park and surrounding areas, or head down to the water to enjoy the absolutely massive Andrew Haydon Park.
